THE TRADITION

Why we gather

Sikpui Ruoi is one of our oldest festivals, a winter feast held to give thanks for the harvest and for the hardships our ancestors carried us through. It began, our elders say, long before Parbung was Parbung — carried village to village, verse by verse, in the Sikpui Hla that is still sung today.

There is no rank at a Sikpui Ruoi table. Rich or poor, elder or child, everyone eats the same feast, drinks the same zu, and dances the same circle. For one day, the village is simply family.

This year, that table is set in Parbung — and every branch of the Unau Suopui is invited to fill it.
2026 GATHERING

Unau Suopui, come home

Ruonglevaisuo Unau Sikpui Ruoi is organizing this year's festival in Parbung, and the invitation goes out wide: to every Unau Suopui community, near or far, who trace their line back to the same ancestors and the same songs. Whether you're traveling in from a neighboring village or coming home after years away, a seat at the table is kept for you.

Bring your family, bring your voice

Families are welcome to arrive with their own contribution to the feast, as has always been the custom of Sikpui Ruoi. Singers of the Sikpui Hla and dancers are especially encouraged to take part — the festival is carried by everyone who shows up to carry it.

GETTING THERE

Finding Parbung

Parbung sits in the Tipaimukh Sub-Division of Pherzawl District, Manipur, close to the Mizoram border. It's the largest village in the sub-division and reachable by road from Churachandpur and Aizawl — plan for hill roads and allow extra travel time.
